CRAPO CREEK
Salmon River
February 7, 1948: "The board of supervisors has agreed to spend up to $30,000 on a new bridge over the Salmon River at Crapo Creek near Forks of Salmon.
County Road Commissioner Lyle H. Walthers told the board the 18 year old covered bridge there is unsafe for heavy vehicles. He added the span is of no historical interest as it is of recent and poor construction, has deteriorated and is patched with corrugated iron.
The county will share costs of a new bridge, costing up to $30,000, with the Public Roads Administration. Action was taken after Walthers pointed out that collapse of the bridge would close the road for months as no detours could be built in the rugged region." (The Sacramento Bee)
