MAWSON
Butte Creek Slough
September 23, 1898: "The flooring of the covered bridge that crosses Butte creek on the West Butte road is badly in need of repairs." (Independent-Herald)
October 15, 1908: "As soon as the weather will permit, Guy McMurtry will begin work on his contract at the Mawson Bridge, at West Butte, all materials having been received. The first work will be the construction of concrete piers, of which there will be 150. There will be 500 feet of new trestle built to connect with the covered bridge and old trestle. There will also be an extension of 500 feet at the opposite end of the bridge, which will make it possible to travel that way at all seasons." (The Sacramento Bee)
