OREGON CREEK
Oregon Creek
December 25, 1929: "The recent storms did considerable damage to the covered bridge across Oregon Creek, above Freeman's Crossing, on the road leading to Forest and Alleghany, and supervisor W.J. Mellon of the Fifth Yuba County District in which the bridge is situated, has placed notices on the bridge that is dangerous to travel and warning that it be not used.
Despite these warnings and the fact that a barricade had been placed across it, people have not only torn down the barricades but have removed the warning signs, thereby endangering the lives of innocent persons who might not know of the dangerous condition of the bridge.
As wide publicity as possible is being given of the dangerous condition of the bridge by publication in Nevada county and Yuba county papers. A notice to this effect appears in this issue of The Union." (The Morning Union)

December 28, 1929: "The covered bridge across Oregon Creek above Freemans Crossing on the road to Alleghany is in an unsafe condition and dangerous to pass over, due to recent storms.
All persons are warned against using said bridge for travel and those who do, do it at their own peril.
W.J. Mellon, Supervisor Fifth District, Yuba County." (The Morning Union)
June 18, 1933: "The flood waters backed up Oregon Creek and moved from its foundation the covered bridge across that stream. The bridge was carried but a short distance and settled back about 10 feet from its true position." (The Morning Union)
