December 13, 1855: "Notice is hereby given that the undersigned Hunter and Crawford will apply to the Hon. Board of Supervisors of El Dorado county, at their place of session in Coloma, on the fourth day of December A.D., 1855, or as soon thereafter as the same can be heard, for the renewal of their license to keep a Toll Bridge across the Middle Fork of the American River at the point known as the 'Spanish Bar Bridge Crossing,' for the period of twelve months, and that said application will be continued from day to day till same can be heard.
