January 26, 1869: "TO BRIDGE BUILDERS. The undersigned will receive bids for building a bridge, 288 feet span, across the North Yuba at what is known as the 'Old Rice's Crossing.' Bidders will state price and kind of bridge they propose to build and guarantee it to stand for five years. Iron and timber furnished at the site of the bridge.

May 12, 1874: "The Commissioner reported favorable to the construction of the bridge at the old Rice crossing over the Yuba river, and estimated the cost at $5,000---the same to be built by Yuba and Nevada counties." (Marysville Daily Appeal)
May 10, 1876: "We notice in the Marysville Appeal, that the Board of Supervisors of Yuba county had received a communication from the Clerk of the Supervisors of Nevada county in relation to building a bridge at the old Rice crossing of the Yuba river. The communication stated that the matter of building that bridge at the Rice crossing will be brought before the Nevada County Supervisors at the next meeting. That being the case, the matter ought to be brought before the public of the county. We will thank the Appeal for the whole of the communication on the subject of that bridge, or perhaps our County Clerk can give us some points in the case." (Morning Union)
May 7, 1888: "The petition of the citizens of Parks' Bar and Foster Bar Townships, asking the Board to grant or otherwise provide funds for the construction of a bridge across Yuba river, at a point known as Rice crossing, was, on motion, received and filed, and the Clerk instructed to correspond with the Supervisors of Nevada county to obtain their views of the matter of building a bridge." August 14, 1888: "Resolved, That the Clerk of this Board be and he is hereby authorized to notify the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of Nevada county, that this Board is willing to meet with a committee from that county at Rice's Crossing on the Yuba river, at some time to be hereafter agreed upon, for the purpose of taking some joint action by the two counties to erect a bridge at said crossing, and the Clerk will forward to the Clerk of Nevada county a copy of this resolution."
